The San Diego Chargers will host a Celebration of Life in honor of Chargers linebacker and San Diego community icon Junior Seau on Friday, May 11 at 6:30 pm at Qualcomm Stadium.  The ceremony is open to the public and parking and admission are free.  The Celebration of Life will allow San Diegans to join in a community-wide tribute to their native son who passed away on Wednesday, May 2.  Special guest speakers will share stories and memories of the positive impact Seau made on them and countless others.

The parking lot at Qualcomm Stadium will open at 2 pm and the stadium gates will open at 4:30 pm.  There is no reserve seating and a large crowd is expected, so fans are urged to arrive early and carpool or take the Trolley.

Donations in Junior’s honor can be made to the Junior Seau Foundation and mailed to the Junior Seau Foundation, 5275 Market Street, Suite B, San Diego, CA 92114. Donations also can be made online at www.juniorseau.org.

Junior has touched many lives of the Charger Backers throughout the years. Rest in peace my friend.

The San Diego Charger Backers have lost 20% of their membership since 2009. We
all have to be active in recruiting new members to join the Charger Backers.

We are having a contest to see which Charger Backer (Including the Board) can
recruit the most new members from February 15th, 2012 through July 26th, 2012.
They have to be NEW members and can’t be past members unless it has been longer
than three years since they were a paying member. There is one credit for each
membership ($30.00) paid regardless of how many people are on the application.

The first place prize for this effort will be two free tickets to a home
exhibition game for the 2012 exhibition season. Second and Third place prizes
are to be determined.

To qualify you must sign a minimum of two new members and they must have paid
their $30.00 membership fees (no refunds). When you sign a new member please
write your name on the application so we know who will receive credit for the
new membership. If there a tie a drawing will be held to determine the winner.

Congratulations to this year’s Fan of the Year…Ken Zuorro! Ken has
been very active with the Charger Backers for 34 years. He is a past
President of the club and currently your Program Director. Ken has worked
many of the fund raising events, numerous Charger Blood Drives and feeds
the homeless on behalf of the Chargers and Charger Backers. Ken is
always available to give a helping hand when needed.
A plaque commemorating all the Fans of the year is on display at
the San Diego Hall Of Champions for all visitors to see.
